Making sure your refrigerator and ice maker stay in tip top condition is important, especially during the Summer months!
Here are a few tips you can follow to make sure they stay cold and making ice!
Cleaning the condenser coils preferably once a year even every 6 months (when we go on/off Daylight Savings Time) the cleaner they are the easier the refrigerator can breathe.
If not the compressor has to work harder, overheats and can cause failure. Depending on which brand either on the bottom in front (like where your toes would be), or in in the back.
If the condenser coils are in the back the cover on the bottom needs to be removed to clean them.
It’s like us putting a sweater on and turning the Air up we are never going to cool down, so remember to remove the sweater (dust/hair) off of those coils regularly.
You should plan on changing the water/ice filter every 6 months to a year The majority of refrigerators have some type of indicator to let you know when to change.
Remember the indicator is set at the factory. The refrigerator is then sold and goes to Montana (spring clear water) or other places where the water is not so good.
So it’s easiest to remember New Year’s Day for (yearly) or when the time changes (when we go on/off Daylight Savings Time).
Another tip – remember, even if you don’t drink the water at the door, you do use the ice which is going through the filter. This can cause issues with the water pressure so the cubes may be smaller and ruin the ice maker.
